The Pony Project

Since the 80′s, the “My Little Pony” toy line has touched the hearts of young girls everywhere.

Now the creators, Hasbro, have invited talented women from various creative backgrounds from fashion and fine art to illustration and graffiti to express their creativity on an 18″ tall blank My Little Pony figure.
This creative challenge given to each woman will result in an exhibition set to debut in New York’s Milk Gallery on October 21st ’05

Artists involved include: Tado, Sas Christian, Fafi, Kozyndan, Klor, junko mizuno, queen andrea and many more..

Fifty percent of the proceeds from art sales will be donated to the Association of Hole in the Wall Camps. The other 50 percent will go to the artists.

We come in peace

Just a note from myself to apologise for the lack of news updates recently, all 3 of us vinyl abusers have been extremely busy recently and promise to get things alive and kicking as soon as possible! Until then… keep the forum alive and well, and have fun.

Jon Burgerman!!

Well this months interview is up! We interviewed the infamous Jon Burgerman, check his interview out by clicking his spiffy artwork to the left!

We are also looking for people to help us out at vinyl abuse to report on the latest art/toys, if you think you have what it takes! then private message me on the forum, my name is souljei! and ill get back to you.

Street Art at the V&A

The Victoria and Albert Museum in London has just unveiled a small display which looks at contemporary stencil prints and sticker art. Mr Jon Burgerman has given a helping hand on this one, so why not pop along, check it out, and take lots of photos! :thumb:

The display runs to the 2nd October.

Stitch by Okkle

Wowzers… Mister Okkle has skills, and this take on Disney’s Stitch demonstrates that! The attention to detail is top notch, its silly! Check out the hands, with the two tones! It doesn’t stop there, Okkle’s customs come as a complete package, right down to the custom art on the box. Give the man a big pat on the back
More customs from Okkle, coming soon…

Dumb Luck Charity Raffle

A decent gesture from the guys at Rotofugi ^_^

“The recent devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina in the gulf coast is massive and scary. We count ourselves lucky that nothing like that has ever happened to us, but our hearts go out to the victims. We’ve been glued to the TV watching the accounts of horrible despair and destruction and now it is time to do something positive. The Pink Dumb Luck by Gary Baseman was anonymously donated by a good friend and customer of Rotofugi to be used for charity and we’ve thrown in a NY Dumb Luck from our personal stash. Each and every ticket you purchase not only gives you a chance at one of these coveted toys, it goes directly to a hurricane relief charity or charities. Shipping to the winner is free worldwide.

Raffle winner will be drawn the evening of October 9, 2005.

Please Note: If you do not purchase any additional items you will be presented with two “shipping” options: Electronic Delivery or Pick Up at Store…choose either one. You will receive an electronic receipt for your ticket purchase either way.”

Manchester – North Quarter

If you’re the type of person that thinks there arn’t enough places that stock vinyl and the like in the UK and are unable to travel to london, dont despair. You may be luckier than you think thanks to the glorius north quarter in Manchester.
During a recent trip there I managed to pick up some amazin’ stuff.

Shops in the general area:

Magma Bookshop – with amazing art on the entrance which changes quite frequently.
Forbidden Planet – A buttload of comics/figures/vinyl etc..
Arc – Weird clothes shop.. sells monsterism and stuff.
Afflecks Palace – (Alternate shopping thingy, 2nd floor has dunny, stereotypes, neo kaiju, Qee (2″, 8″ and DIY), 10″ Andy Warhol Kubrick and looooads more

Map to afflecks (most other shops mentioned are in this area)

You could also visit the amazing urbis which has exhibitions and other funky stuff aswell as a neat lil shop which also sells qee etc..

How to get to urbis

**update**
Also just around the corner from Forbidden Planet is the Richard Goodall gallery! Loads of top line vinyl there.

thanks Doktor A ;)

Horvath Two-Faced Dunny Set (S2)

From the original promo flyer, it didn’t look to me as though the second Series of Horvath’s two-faced dunnys was going to offer much… HOWEVER! Having seen these individual shots… There are some real nice designs… my personal favourite being the chase figure from Sun-Min Kim. This would make a great 8″ I feel!

Woo spiders!!
