TRISTAN EATON GOES TOKYO

Tristan Easton holds his first exhibition in Japan at CWC and Gallery LELE. So if you know anyone in Japan make sure they hear this news.

The show premieres an exclusive exhibition series of characters, meet the RUNTS!!!

They feature in 40 paintings, featuring a wide variety of mediums from spraypaint on glass & gold leaf to 3D prints & animation cells! Also Tristan has created a 3” tall figurine of one of these characters in a limited edition of 5 pieces, made out of cold cast Marble. Only 3 will be available at the show and they will retail for $500 US. The mold has now been destroyed to ensure no further editions are made.

This figure is exclusive to Gallery LELE for this exhibition, so for sale inquiries on this figure or paintings from the show, please contact: gallery@cwctokyo.com.

Lifestyles of the Cute and Dangerous runs from April 4th to the 23rd, with the opening reception on April 7th.

GEE WHIZZ – gee whizz!!!

As the show kicks off we will of course be making the full reveal of the artwork. So to tease and please, here is a sneak of one half of Huck’s work for Gee Whizz.

Stay tuned for more…

K-Spray Shoe Design Comp

You may or not be a sneaker addict, and when i mean addict i mean that you love to customise your sneakers/trainers. Usually its Nike that holds the top spot for customising, with their dunk lows and air force 1′s. But adidas and k-swiss seem to be coming ever so popular, adidas not long released their “Adicolour” trainers, and after looking through forums i found the k-swiss custom trainers… maybe its time for me to have a go.

more photos of the custom k-swiss and more information here.

GEE WHIZZ – the event

After months of planning (this cropped up with a chat I had with TADO back in October), moments of sheer confused anguish, hours of crazy banter on msn, times of sadness, episodes of delight, it is finally here!!!

Opens to the public Sunday 2nd April 2006.
Private view Saturday 1st April 6PM-10PM by invite only.

This is VA’s first event and it has been a serious endeavour. I think it makes us the first online vinyl magazine/community to do a live event (correct me if I’m wrong). We still have artists joining up to add their support. Thank you all for your patience and equalled enthusiasm. Anyone who can come down to the show say hello, and enjoy the artwork.

Full show report will happen once we’ve all recovered…!!!

FATIMA by Sam Flores

Upper Playground, Sam Flores and Ningyoushi have collaborated to bring the ominously beautiful female character in Sam Flores’ paintings, Fatima, in vinyl form.

Fatima will be available in two styles: Green with a tiger print dress and pink with a dragon print dress and floral headdress. Each figure measures eight inches tall and is packaged in a collectible window display box. Each is limited to 450 pieces. It’s launch date is set as “very soon”.

“Upper Playground was founded in 1998 with the belief that numerous social influences such as art, music, skateboarding, basketball, and street life could be combined into one brand of clothing that celebrates contemporary urban lifestyle without excluding anyone.” A very nice outlook if ever there was one!

Fatima is the first in a series of collaborations between Ningyoushi and Upper Playground.

KICKIN’ IT IN THE BALLS!!!

PlayImaginative are releasing a Coca-Cola series of trexi in May 2006. The project name is “Coca-Cola presents “We all speak football” trexi series”. This series consists of 25 International designers/artists from all over the world, including Jon Burgerman, Jeremyville, Rolito, Tim Tsui, Huck Gee, Touma, Devilrobots… the list goes on and on!!! Some great design ideas have been dreamt up by the artists. With the WC06 coming in the summer, football is going to be BIG!!!

Centred on the concept of football as a ‘common language’ and a deep passion which brings people from all walks of life together, the trexis reflect the artists’ impressions of what football and Coca-Cola mean to them. Each design has individual packaging.

Jacky has kindly posted all the artwork for this special series in our forums. See all the designs plus the packaging artwork here.

Bunny Qee

More trickles of information coming out about this lately…

Image above is of customs not production pieces

The Bunny Qee will be 9″ to start and then become part of the 2″ line. It will also be sold as a DIY in White, Black and GID. Expect pics to of production pieces to come after the show, Dok A’s and Nasty’s designs would be a great way to start the line.

The Bunny Qee is being launched at a show at AMP in Hong Kong on the 10th of April. It’s an easter bunny show with 300 custom bunnys.

In my opinion, this is a return to form and a good addition to the Qee brand.

OF KAWS YOU CAN!!!

FuturePlastik is running a raffle for a black Kaws x Pushead.

Only £5 per ticket and you can purchase multiple tickets! There were 30 ticket places – currently 17 are still available!!!

Check out this thread on the VA forums to add your name to the list.

Happy Tree Friends Trexi

Release date: July 2006 at San Diego Comic Con

The Happy Tree Friends really fit in well with the trexi shape, nice colourful characters and in keeping with the gore associated with Happy Tree Friends, when the top part of the head is removed, their brains can be seen inside.
