Jellymon – The Sweetest Propaganda show report

Jellymon, currently residing in Shanghai, have just had a pant wettingly good opening of their The Sweetest Propaganda show at Da>Space.

The Sweetest Propaganda is Jellymon’s first solo exhibition in China. After having spent 4 months in Shanghai, the works are an amalgamation of previous thoughts and ideas and partly a reaction to their time spent in China. Full of the much welcome influence of Japanese Anime, Pop Art, plus cold war era propaganda art with a little street art thrown into the mix.

The Da>column saw some live art activity, with Sam performing his pen weilding skills. The duo also got active together for the “Business Card Dance” a rarely seen peice of performing art!!!

Around 400 people packed out the Shanghai gallery for a night of visual delight.

The opening also saw the launch of their new design toy series Jellymonogram. Dervied from their fashion label inspired monogram the figure set is a little Jelly army of cute yet deadly iconic critters. Sam and Lin Lin tell us, “Jellymonogram members are here to seek revenge on materialistic girls who starve and prostitute themselves for a high price fashion bag”.

Look out for the Jellymonograms, and a few more Jellymon goodies coming to a store near you soon! Congratualtions to Sam and Lin Lin on a superb show.
