Vinyl Meltdown – The Winners

The judges are out of rehab and the results are in!!!

Nichole was first on the ball with a deep kick to the nuts of any unsuspecting passer by and a shout out of her favourite 3. Huck was next to deliver his poetic ponderings on the haves and have nots then vomitted over his top 3. Finally, Jellymon emerged from their hideout to point nervously at the bizarre and peculiar offerings before scampering back into the shadows.

Congratulations to toysrevil who takes home the complete set of Gorillaz, produced by Kidrobot plus a Munny. The 2 runners up are Tito Perez and Robotsoda – proving that handmade has a fine existence – who each get a Frank Kozik 6″ Labbit plus a Munny.

Many, many thanks to all who entered and thanks to our judges for their time and thanks to Kidrobot for the prize sponsorship. Keep on rocking even if punk is dead!

Any information about the missing pieces whereabouts can be sent to Tim Biskup directly by emailing flopdoodle@timbiskup.com. A reward is being offered for any information leading to their recovery.

Ron English – Cathy Cowgirl

We couldn’t miss out on presenting to you the amazing Cathy Cowgirl by Ron English. Cathy Cowgirl is based on a character from the artist’s paintings and billboard appropriations, often associated with his ongoing jabs at the dairy industry’s use of bovine growth hormones.

The Southern Belle sure has some fine teats… Cathy Cowgirl stands on an old school faux-wood stand in the shape of Texas. Just be careful where you point that pistol…!!! She will be ready for milking late 2006.

Available in 3 colorways: Brown (limited to 450 pieces); Black and White (limited to 450 pieces) and Gold (limited to 100 pieces). Produced by StangeCo.

A show report of Ron’s recent exhibition at the Robert Berman Gallery in Santa Monica is up on Supertouch. The show runs until November 11th.

SneakerFiendz

Sneakahood is a new urban brand of toys by designer Kay of Cryogenic Labz, who is also responsible for the Emoteeglobes. Unlike the fuzzy cute critters, Sneakahood stems from a darker part of his psyche, which is a world influenced by the street, skateboarding, breakbeats and lurking demons.

The Sneakahood brand will encompass several sub-brands that feature different characters decked out in Sneakaz, the plan is for all the parts to be interchangeable with one another – accessory Sneakaz and blank Sneakaz for sale separately to allow collectors to change the kicks on their Sneakatoys. The Sneakaz can also be collected separately for people who enjoy collecting miniature kicks.

The first sub-brand under Sneakahood are the Sneakfiendz, fiendish creatures with an urban influence – decked out in Sneakaz. And the first Sneakafiend is Azazel, a goat-demon lord who likes comfortable kicks to prevent his hooves from getting damaged.

The first prototype of Azazel has just been completed – he is set to undergo several more changes, alternative horns, stronger leg joints, refined print positioning, improved joint quality and the necessary quality control to ensure this product hits the top level of perfection. Production numbers are set to be 500 blind boxed pieces – there are 50 pieces among them that are a secret version, a sneak peek can be seen in the banner above.

Azazel will visit our planet sometime next year with a show “The Devil wears Sneakaz”, and a stellar line-up of designers is being arranged to provide him a new wardrobe.

Bitch Fight @ StolenSpace

Shok1 vs Calma (A quick and dirty art show) hit Stolenspace last week.

Shok’s Fatcap custom was on display alongside a collection of bold work, mirrored by some fine illustration. Calma hit the refinety of style we all appreciate, with his symbolic skullhead icon appearing throughout his artwork.

The exhibition has now ended, so the only place to see more photos from the show is here!
