VA writers needed

You may have noticed VA has been a little quiet recently, well that’s because we have been so busy with work that we have tended to neglect our news posting.

So the time has come to ask if YOU would like to work for VA!! The site has been going for nearly 2 years now and we have positioned ourselves within the online publishing community as one of the main purveyors of toys, street art and sub-culture art and graphics. Our readership is worldwide and this is your chance to practice your journalistic skills (and grab some free stuff along the way).

Imagine being first to know about the latest toy releases, imagine not having to pay to get into SDCC, imagine getting a first look the latest exhibitions by your favourite artists. You will have the chance to write news, feature articles and interviews. To qualify to be a VA writer you must:

- Have a keen, open-minded interest in the vinyl toy scene
- Be interested in street art and sub-culture art and graphics
- Be willing to attend exhibitions and events and photograph these events, meet artists, carry out interviews
- Have experience in writing (online blog authoring experience is suitable)
- Have knowledge of basic html and experience using blog software
- Have good knowledge of editing images in Photoshop for online viewing
- Be personable and willing to write emails to production companies and artists
- Have time to compile a contact base of production companies and independent artists
- Be able to dedicate your time to Vinyl Abuse and have a keen interest in the website’s future.

You will also have access to a main cultural location where toy and art events regularly take place.

To be a part of VA’s next generation please email me sichi[a]vinylabuse.com with a short explanation of your journalistic experience and reason why you want to be part of VA!

MAD Bentworld Vandals

MAD’s Bentworld Vandals get their official release, after a short stint of sales at TTF. Available August 2nd 2007 from Kidrobot (both online and instore) and other fine designer vinyl retailers. The mini-figures come blind boxed with two variations of each figure – clean and used! Good old vinyl abuse – that’s what we like to see!!!

MTV Fauna

We previously posted about Nathan Jerevicius’s work for MTV Canada. Bigshot Toyworks took up the baton and are developing and producing the accompanying figures based on Nathan’s Kaiju inspired critters.

We look forward to hearing more about the development of these figures – Kaiju is a HUGE trend at the moment, hot off the back of Kaiju for Grow-Ups it looks like there are many more things to come Kaiju-style.

COLORBLOK’s MONO

Colorblok character MONO has been turned into a 3-Dimensional being by Kaching. MONO will make an appearance at SDCC, on the DKE Toys Booth #4832. Colorblok’s Juliana Pedemonte will be signing at the Toy Tokyo Booth #5325 on Thursday July 26th at 2PM.

Colorblok will also feature at VTN on Friday July 27th.
