The Saddest Devil Update!

The Saddest Devil
Good news everyone! The Saddest Devil is almost ready to be unleashed and should be shipping out of the factories in the first week of February, so expect him to hit the shelves not long after!
The Saddest Devil   The Saddest Devil
VA has been sent pics of the above ‘signature grey’ edition as well as some sneaky, pixelated peaks at 2 other colourways aimed to be released sometime during 2008. Also in the works are talks of a custom show, and a super limited edition variant of 20 hand-painted Devils by one of the scenes top customisers! Who you ask? Well…we don’t know! We haven’t been told yet so your guess is as good as ours!

StrangeCo’s – The Vivisect Playset

vps_group1.jpg
The Vivisect Playset is based on an annual group art show, curated by artist Luke Chueh and hosted by Gallery 1988.
The show, whose fourth installment is currently running at Gallery 1988′s San Francisco location, thematically focuses on the representation of animals that demonstrate the human condition. With the toy series, we have chosen seven of the core artists from the art show, whose designs lend themselves well to plastic.

The Vivisect Playset toy series produced by StrangeCo, features seven original designs, one by each artist, plus a special collaborative design by Joe Ledbetter and Greg Simkins. Blind/mystery box packaging, with special “chase” figures, too.

Available at all (or most) fine retailers now :D

Up for a little Marauding?

I’m going to be VERY lazy here because Super7 have been kind enough to write a proper press release for this item so I’m just going to copy and paste. Don’t have me for my laziness.

Super7 is proud to present the MIDNIGHT MARAUDER SQUIRM!!

super7

Squirm is the brand-new next character in Super7′s SNAKES OF INFINITY line of soft vinyl Fight Figures.  Designed by Brian Flynn and sculpted by Cosmo Liquid, the Midnight Marauder Squirm is 4.5″ tall and cast in black vinyl with yellow spray.
The Snakes of Infinity are a near endless team of monster villains set upon conquering the world as part of the secret evil organization, D.A.R.K. (Diabolical Animal Regenerative Killers).  D.A.R.K. is led by the maniacal scientist Dr. Killgore, who creates each monster with a terrifying mix of man and beast.  The Snakes of Infinity appear to rise from the shadows of the world, ready to strike at any moment, and when one monster dies, three others seemingly take its place.

Will the world ever be safe again?  Or will D.A.R.K.ness and their Zombie henchmen rule forever?
The MIDNIGHT MARAUDER SQUIRM will be offered for sale at $50 from the Super7 Store and Distribution Network, Saturday January 26, 11am Pacific.

Huck Gee again?

And as usual it’s going to be impossible to get your hands on. Huck really knows what he’s doing but I’m not complaining (though I know it sounds like it) because the things this guy is doing lately are fantastic

skullhunter1

This little beauty is one of the finest Munny customs I have seem in a while, which is depressing because I customize Munnys as well and they are no-where near this good.
His name is Skullhunter and Huck has graced the world with 10 of them selling at $650 each on his ebay store

They are going online on Friday 25th at Noon (PST) .
Each one is numbered on the back and comes with a unique skull per figure. If I had the money (and the effort to battle the more hardcore collectors) I would love to get my hands on one. What do you think?

Everybody’s favourite visual rockband, :phunk studio, have taken Taipei by storm with their Universe exhibition. They have created their own imaginary universe and filled it with all the creatures and disorder that only dreams are made of. Click the image above to read the full exhibition text.

The show is on at Gallery J.Chen until the 10th February.

VA has more pictures from the exhibition – read the full article by clicking “more”…

Ugly Kaiju Ice Bat

uglykaiju1

UGLY? No way. He’s beautiful.

Usually I don’t like Kaiju toys. Most of them look cheap, too shinny, badly painted with an awful air brushed random look (feel free to leave comments about how wrong I am) but this piece, although holding all of those qualities, is pure beauty.

David Horvath and Sun-Min Kim have teased us with these photos from Davids blog and have revealed that this baby will be dropping in February. Produced by one of my favorite companies InTheYellow this will be sure to be a huge seller standing at no less than 6 inches…well…maybe a a few mill give or take.

No price as of yet but who cares. Let’s face it we’ll all buy it what ever they charge…within reason.

Never Smile at a Crocodile by Amanda Visell

avcroc1

Ok I know, I know. Lately there has been a little spur in toys that are impossible to get your hands on. Personally having missed every one of the Ringo Bear toys by Joe Ledbetter and the latest depression for having missed the Huck Gee Bootleg figure there is now another chance for me to curl up in a ball in the corner having my girlfriend tell me she doesn’t understand because “it’s just a toy”. IT’S NOT A TOY! IT’S AN ADDICTION!!!

Amanda Visell has created some wonderful art for us over the years and with the success of Pink Elephant and Drunky McSkunky she will be treating us to the wonderfully sculpted by Julie B, fantastically hand painted by Amanda, purely beautiful piece entitled “Never Smile at a Crocodile” which is a resin figure…wait for it..

LIMITED TO 25 *weeps*

Each piece will be sold for $350  and will be released for Disney’s 55th Anniversary celebration of Peter Pan on Saturday Feb 23rd at 9am (pst)

The fact I will never get my hands on one of these is depressing me more than anything else right now. If you don’t want one there is something seriously wrong with you…and get one for me ;)

Berenjena from DGPH!

Berenjena by DGPH

Those talented chaps at DGPH and Adfunture have done it again! The second figure from DGPH and Adfunture, with Mr Topo being the first, Berenjena (meaning eggplant) is looking to be a big feller! Berenjena stands 6″ tall, and from the looks of it just as wide at least! There will be different colourways too!

Definitely one to keep your eye on, and apparently he’s almost here!

Supergordo! Super fat Man!

It’s always great when artists go out there and make their own figures themselves! And it seems that the quality of these figures just keeps on going up, and this is no exception!

Supergordo!

Supergordo, “Super Fat Man”, is a whopping 6″ tall hand made resin cast figure from Vinilium, a group of Spanish toymakers and designers. As you can see, Supergordo is quite a sizeable fellow making this quite a chunk a resin with a lot of space for design!
