Artoyz Originals & Elements Preview

artoyzorig.png

Since 2003, the French company ARTOYZ has been contributing to the development of the “designer toy
culture” in France and around the World.

The ARTOYZ ORIGINALS label is a laboratory for French and international toy designers, emerging or confirmed, and its role is to offer exclusive creations that will create a new dynamic on the toys’ market.

artoyzelementstest.png

The first ARTOYZ ORIGINALS project is an evolving toy project called ELEMENTS, sloughing with the different
graphic renderings of the creators and artists involved.
Created by the young artist EASY HEY from Delkographik collective studio and rendered by GREGOS, ELEMENTS are characters based on the following hypothesis: according to some antic Greeks philosophers, all matter in the world is comprised of 4 elements: water, air, earth and fire.

ELEMENTS PROLOGUE SET will be the first step of the on-going series of ELEMENTS toys, which release is scheduled for June 2008.

The set consists of a box of four characters associating colour and transparency, introducing the concept of elements and imparting the structure of this new standard.
Two new vinyl figures will be exclusively unveiled during the Bread and Butter Tradeshow in Barcelona early July 2008 (to be released then in September ’08).
Several other new toy projects are currently being produced for a late ’08 release.

Ohman, hand-made figures from Tesselate!

Here at VA we’ve always got our eyes peeled for new stuff! And look what we found today on Tesselate’s flickr!

Ohman

Ohman is a small hand-made figure by UK artist Tesselate, the creator of the Heartheads resin figures. Ohman was created for the website www.o-hand.com, 50 in total were made, 47 in the company’s green and 3 special custom colours. Featuring the original Hearthead body with the o-hand logo for a head and an insanely crisp paintjob these really show off Tesselates skills!

Sneaky Peek @ Doktor A’s Solo Show

The good Doktor has kindly provided up with a sneaky peek of one of the works from his upcoming show.

Welcome To Retropolis - Sneaky Peek

What could it be? I’m hazarding a guess at a hand painted Mechtorian figure, I’m sure all will be revealed soon!

And while we’re only the subjects of the Mechtorians, have you ever wandered exactly what they are or where they came from? Who built them and why? Well Dok a was good enough to provide us with a short backstory:

“It was during a Cricket match, one balmy afternoon in the summer of 1897, that Professor Maximillian Whistlecraft was informed of England’s forthcoming destruction.
His friend and fellow tinkerer at the outer boundaries of science and engineering, one Herbert Wells, had just returned from a brief jaunt into the near future through the use of his Extraordinary Temporal Conveyancer, and had a shocking tale to relate. In only a few short years hence the green and pleasant land of good old Blighty would be overrun by a dastardly Martian invasion force, the likes of which could barely be comprehended. As part of the invasion, Herbert had witnessed the razing of his friend’s own residence near Horsell Common and had hastened at the earliest opportunity to warn the good fellow to the impending danger.

Jam & Custard – pictures of the night!

What a great night it was! A fantastic turnout for the show the place was jammed full! Haha get it? Jammed full?…ok no more puns sorry.

Droplets! Yay!!!

Droplets were flying off the shelves as people searched for the ellusive black chase figure, and the seemingly even more ellusive green figure which seemed to get pulled less than the chase! The walls were adorned with vinyl cut-out droplets and lazer cut Jam Factory and Droplet logos with free button badges, stickers, postcards and sugary goodness everywhere!

So many peoples! Boxes galore! Which ones hold the mystery chase? Even more peoples!

Upstairs there was even more goodness to be had with a fantastic exhibition of customised Droplets by some fantastic artists! And on the opposing wall, some beautiful lazer etched skatedecks and some hand-made Droplet plushies! As usual I’ve been rather o.c.d with the photo’s and taken close-ups of every piece, so read on to view all the fantastic customs!
