Treeson and Other stories – Update

Good news for all Treeson fans outside of Taiwan!

Crazy Label have got their hands on 60 copies of the ‘Treeson and Other Stories’ bookset (which we posted a earlier), so now you don’t have to go to Taiwan or the evil-bay to get your hands on one!

Available now for just $26 (a bargain with the conversion rate!) plus shipping. Grabs yours while you can! treeson’s are quite collectable so I wouldn’t think these would hang around too long! They’re just so darn cute! ^_^

Silent release

Well this fella was kept uber quiet. Meant for the SDCC all of these were held at customs so now they are a InTheYellow exclusive.

Limited to just 50 you can get your hands on him via InTheYellow or the few remaining down at Tokyocube. A must have for Horvath fans. If you check David’s blog you can see him glittering beautifully in the light which acording to David is still much better in person

VA Announcement – VA Community

Vinyl Abuse Community

As you (probably) already know, the forum has been down for a little over a week now and we’ve been attempting to fix the problem during that time but have instead opted to import all users and posts over to a new forum system.

We are now working on integrating a whole new experience for Vinyl Abuse users which will be the all new “VinylAbuse: Community

“VinylAbuse: Community” Features:

  • Extensive forum system – user reputation system, ranking, custom titles, chatroom etc.. (new features/plugins to be added)
  • User Profiles – Facebook/Myspace-like users profiles with customizable styles, friends lists, personal music players and photo galleries.
  • User Blogs – Personal blogs for each user that are directly tied to profiles and may be chosen to be featured on forum navbar and the future VA homepage.
  • Advertising – Got a toy, project, shop, website that you’d like to advertise? Well with the future community you’ll be able to get the word out with banner ads and the option of having a featured blog with related news.

We’re working hard on bringing you a better VinylAbuse and an awesomely improved community/hub for Vinyl, Art and Design enthusiasts to get together.  Hopefully you’ll stick along for the ride.

Petit Lapin X Marie Paysant-Le Roux

Mr Clement is back with another Petit Lapin, and this time he’s got a cunning disguise!

Now how can anyone resist a bunny with fine facial fur like that? This is most certainly a bunny who understands style, not only does he sport a mighty fine mustache but each of these lapins comes with a hand made scarf!  Each scarf is unique and hand made by French textile artist Marie Paysant-Leroux.

Other accessories include a small envelope and a new hand-bound, 14 page long, comic entitled ‘Tea Time Grandmom’. Mr Clement states “This lapin is a piece of art about the memories of our grandmoms, the memories are of girls and boys, sweets and toys, gentleness and nostalgia.

Limited to just 100 for the bargain price of £20 this is sure to go fast! Get your’s HERE!

Green Orlax

I am going to be very poor for a while with all the fantastic releases this year. In fact I have no idea how I will be able to afford this piece and I hope to god I will be able to find some money making scheme before it sells out.

Size: 20″ *drools*
Quantity: Only 50 will be made *drools more*
Price: $240 + shipping *weeps more loudly than before*

This variant is a KidRobot exclusive and is a must have for Pete Fowler fans everywhere….so someone buy me one :)

Andrew Bell Mad*L

I need this figure. I mean it. I have no idea how many will be made and at what cost but this Andrew Bell Mad*L figure will be released by Frozen Empire toys in december and I will mug anyone who buys this toy.

Also being released in November is the Mechanized Mad*L which also looks very cool but, in my opinion, shrivels in comparison

And before anyone asks yes these images are taken from VP. I appologise but alas living in the UK means I wasn’t able to make it to the SDCC myself *weeps silently*

350?

This is beautiful. Lately I have been losing interest with Jled figures due to the sheer quantity of his toys and the fact that ebay in it’s most evil ways has made it simple for people to buy purely to sell at a rediculously higher price almost instantly.

At a release price of $65 these are already going for sale for around $270.

Also suprising was the fact that the lava edition has a quantity of 350 rather than the usual 50 the other lava editions are released at which is a good thing in one way making it more available (in a way) and a bad thing on the other hand by taking away its collectability to a degree.

I for one though had to buy one of these guys. I much preffer it to the recent Teeter, Ringo and Smash toys.

LittleBigPlanet – DontPanic x Sony – Design Contest

LBPcompetition

click image to go to the contest site & enter

DontPanic Media in conjunction with Sony Playstation, have launched a contest to promote the upcoming PlayStation3 game LittleBigPlanet.

Sony PlayStation have asked us to seek out the best Sackboy character design, so we’re asking you to show us your creations.

The idea with the contest is that people design Sackboys or girl characters, and the best entry as chosen by our judges will be brought to life as a limited edition six-inch model. The winner will also be rewarded with a copy of the game and a PlayStation 3.

The competition is open to public vote, so people are welcome to vote on their favourite entry.

The competition ends on 4th August 2008, so get doodling!

It’s a monster

You might, like me, look at this and think nothing more than “oooh another dunny looking the same as all other dunnys” (yes I am not easily impressed some days) but look a bit closer……..can you tell???…….

Of course you can’t tell. It has no size comparison in the photo :) but it is in fact 20 INCHES HIGH!!!! Now THAT makes it worth buying. There’s nothing quite like having a massive toy to over power the rest of your collection. OK that reads sarcastically but I truely mean it.
This bad @$$ figure comes limited edition of 400 being released on the 31st of July (Thursday) via Kidrobot (duh)

The cost is $300 but keep in mind that is 20″ of vinyl you’re paying for. So do it. Buy it.

And as for discussion (yet I like prompting you all to speak your mind) in the battle of size and money who wins? Are you more likely to look at a piece of significant size and think “I need it” or do you think “I would rather be able to pay my bills and eat for the month”?

Radioactive Sheep??

I never did manage to truely hide my love for CrazyLabel products and this one is no exeption. Even if you weren’t to keen on Metin’s original Seamour Sheep you still HAVE to own one of these guys.

USB powered, easy to turn on and off (simply tip him onto his side) and only £69 + shipping available RIGHT NOW from the CrazyLabel store here.

He even comes with his own pair of transparent goggles to complete the look. Kudos guys

So what do people here think? Is it a good thing people are doing more with our vinyl toys? Or did you preffer them as simple decorative figures? Pop a comment on here and we’ll see if your thoughts are shared by others.
To get you started I personally think it has its pros and cons. I do love this USB lamp but I wouldn’t be able to really keep it on my toy shelf without making the light itself redundant. I suppose to a degree that would seperate itself not only litteraly from my collection but also make it more of an art product rather than an art toy.
However I do enjoy scattering a few pieces of my collection around my house so having one next to my PC isn’t too far fetched and it would definately stand out to visitors as a talking piece aka “Is that a radioactive sheep glowing by your PC???”

VA forum – announcement

To all our users,

We’re sorry for the downtime of the forum lately.  This is due to a problem (we think) with the recent forum upgrade which is causing our server to be strained, even in low web traffic conditions.  Fear not, functionality of the main site shouldn’t be affected but we realise how important the forum is and we ARE working on fixing the issue as I write this post.  If we’re unable to sort the problem then we’ll more than likely go back to the old forum software and then go from there.
Cheers,

~ Unsungzero
