Dolbee

Dolbee is a brand new vinyl platform figure designed by MAD Toy Design and ATP, brought to you by Clownshoes, the toy company from the people behind All Tomorrows Parties Festivals and Don’t Look Back Concerts.

Dolbee is based on a cassette tape (remember them?), stands at 5″ tall and is a unique platform figure for artists. So far there has been three editions by three top designers; MAD, Kathie Olivas and Micheal Motorcycle.

Something else that sets Dolbees apart is how they have been released, each Dolbee edition is released to coincide with an ATP festival. The first release by MAD, shown above was limited to 365, each numbered with a day of the year! The next two releases were both limited to 366 (one for each day of 2008), quite a funky concept!

Each figure retails at £20 or can be bought as a set of all three so far for £50. All future releases will be exclusively available at festivals initially with any remaining stock being available at www.atpfestival.com or the following toy outlets: Toy Tokyo, Rotofugi & Outre. So keep your eyes peeled!

New for PatchTogether On Demand

Patch Together has just released it’s first toy through it’s “On Demand” service where designs are available through pre-order only. Once 50 or more people have pre-ordered the toy it is put into manufacture and distributed.

The first toy to be released through this service is Freakbeast limited to just 89

New designs are added all the time to “On Demand” so go check it out and don’t worry, your card will not be charged until the toy is released and keep in mind that once the toy is made it is no longer available so unless you pre-order you wont get one.

From Russia With Love

‘From Russia With Love’ is a new resin figure from VA board member Idle. Above is the initial sculpt for the figure which will be cast in 4 pieces, the tank body, the turret (which will rotate), the driver and the hat!

The figure will be packed in a kaiju style bag with header and limited to 10 pieces. Scheduled for release in the second week of November during the “Russians” exhibition at rotopol.

I’m really digging the blocky, almost rough look of the tank, reminiscent of Micheal Lau. Read on for infor on how to reserve yourself one!

King Ken mini series 1

James Javis and STRANGEco have teamed up to re-render one of Jarvis’ most iconic figures, King Ken, as a 4″ mini series!

The series will make it’s worldwide debut on 22nd November ’08. There will be a total of six colourways, with only two being from the original 12″ figures. But we’ve only shown five? Yup it’s a blind boxed series and there’s a chase!

Astrolapin!

Mr Clement is back with a new rendition of the lapin and this one is looking quite special! We don’t know an awful lot about Astrolapin except what we can gather from this rather blurry tease and Mr Clement’s blog, which states he will be released next month! I don’t know about you but I can’t wait!

Cosmic Hobo’s ‘Terrible Ten’

click for bigger image*

Ok I’ve been a bit late on posting this sorry but you can still get your hands on one of just 10 Cosmic Hobos if you’re fast!
Each of these resin figures stands 9″ high and approx 7.5″ wide. The details are the really cool thing about these figures, with subtle fades on the trousers, feather and hair, a range of small symbols adorning the headband and….my favourite part, magnetic arms! All this for $125.00, which when you consider these are hand made and extremely limited, is not too bad a price!

So if you want one all you need to do is head over to the Arbito Shop before they go!

Kuso Designer Toys x Rotobox – GANMETALL CELSIUS

Designed by Rotobox, produced by Kuso Designer Toys.

“Created for the sole purpose of serving the evil Gunryu Empire lead by Emperor Nyan Nyan, celsius was stolen by a small renegade squad known as S3uck (SSSUCK – Super Secret Squad Unit Combat Korps, pronounced as Suck) and has helped him understand the true intentions of the empire. Now fully aware of the evil doings of the empire, celsius vowed to fight for justice and freedom and spread the message that ‘co-existence’ is a vital role in our world.”

It’s original design colorway is black with production run of 600 pcs. The following Celsius prototype pictures show that the figure is definately taking shape and looks set to be an awesome piece.

Sketch For Change

“We’re a group of folks from Los Angeles that started having Thursday Dinners to raise money for Barack Obama’s Campaign for Change. Dinners soon became a place to brainstorm other ways to help more, from phone banking to registering friends to vote early.

Sketch for Change is one of the ideas we cooked up over dinner.

We invited twenty-one amazing artists attending the recent Baby Tattooville Art Retreat to contribute an original drawing to benefit Barack Obama’s Campaign for Change. All work was generously donated.

Contributing Artists Include: Ana Bagayan, Gary Baseman, Glenn Barr, Tim Biskup, Luke Chueh, Dave Cooper, Ara Devejian, Bob Dob, Gris Grimly, Thomas Han, Julita Januszewska, James Jean, Joe Ledbetter, Lola, Brandi Milne, Mark Murphy, Daniel Peacock, Shag, Jeff Soto, Nathan Spoor, and Amanda Visell.

The 21 original drawings will be auctioned off on Ebay, ending October 25th, to raise funds for Barack Obama’s final push towards the general election in November.

We also invite submissions from anyone in the world that would like to contribute a Sketch for Change. Click Here To Submit Your Sketch For Change.

The Night Circus – ciBoys by PO!!

Welcome to the Night Circus held by our freaky C.i.Boys! Lion Tamer Deri will lead his crew to show you something you’ve never seen before. Undead Assistant X-cite was cut in half…how come it’s like nothing to him? How can Psycho Clown Go can be this …unbelievable? One thing’s for sure – you don’t want to get left behind when the show is finished. You don’t want to know what is going to be happening in this tent!

*click for bigger pics*

Night Circus is a new artist boxset of ciBoys (the first I’ve seen?) designed by Patricio Oliver, also known as PO!!. Collectors of the platform will know that underneath every design remains the original ciBoys face and colour, PO!! has worked around this really well using the now conventional ‘hats’ as well as working the faces into his own. I especially dig the Vampgorilla!

If you want to see more check out PO!!’s flickr set HERE!
