Kick-Ass figures from Mezco Toyz

Kick-Ass”, the action-adventure movie from Lionsgate and Matthew Vaughn, is a twisted high-octane adventure that redefines the “super hero” genre, based on the popular comic by Mark Millar and John Romita Jr.

Kick-Ass 1/12 scale 6” action figure from Mezco Toyz captures the essence of “Kick-Ass”; armed with two billy-clubs, and wearing signature suit and mask.

Hit-Girl, a.k.a. Mindy Mc Cready is an 11 year-old pig-tailing wearing waif with the fighting skills of a ninja. This little super hero proves she has some real kick- ass skills.

The 1/12 Scale action figure features Hit-Girl in her signature plaid skirt, purple wig and cape. Armed with a pair of butterfly knives, and her double Gitano bladed mindy stick.

Ships – October 2010.

ESC Toys – Super Maria 18″

Erick Scarecrow’s new Soopa Maria 18″ will be available 11am PST on 03/26/10.

It is an ESC exclusive and will come with a mystery 8 x 10 giclee print. Each 18″ handpainted resin figure is signed/numbered by the artist and comes wrapped in handcut styrofoam.

The edition size is limited to 30pcs and only available at the ESC Ebay shop for $450 (Not too bad when you consider the extremely small run and it’s a whopper at 18″).

The running of the Otaku!

A short video shot by GiantRobot head Honcho, Eric Nakamura from his visit to Japan’s Wonderfest with plenty of images of Otaku running to buy toys.
Pretty insane, then again I’m sure you would do the same thing once the mad rush begins; everyone gets a chance but why wait in line for hours :p

Pipos and Accent from Tessetoys

More awesome handpainted resin Oakors from Tessetoys. Above are Pipos and Terry Seven, they’re quite troublesome and don’t take no for an answer.
Below are Accent Carrier 4 and Terry Eight taking a break from their military campaign, “Blitsplosion”.

The Oakor figures stand at 4 inches / 10cm high and both Terrys at a gargantuan 1.4inches / 3.2cm high.
Both figures are hand cast in resin and hand painted with acrylic paints (and a bit of spraypaint), in the deepest bowels of the Tessetoys manufacturing plant.

Kidrobot Black – SSUR’s Black & Gold Skull

The next piece from Kidrobot’s Black line is this wicked black and gold skull by Russell Karablan, owner and creative director of SSUR.  Opinion seems divided on the piece, sure it’s different and more of a sculpture than the usual “toys” we’re used to but it’s not exactly original (Secret Base have been producing Skull Heads for quite a while now, and they’re arguably better).

However, would you sooner have KR produce a piece like this, or shovel kinder egg-esque stuff like the awful De La Soul minifigs?  No word on a release date or numbers (expect around 200), so you’ll have to keep an eye on the Kidrobot Black page.

Ninjatown Zipper Charms

Shawnimals and Squibbles Ink + Rotofugi have teamed up on a 16-design series of Ninjatown Zipper Charms set for a soft release on Friday, March 12th in the Shawnimals online shop and at a designer toy store near you!

Ninjatown Zipper Charms are $3.95 USD each. Cases consist of 32 pieces (or in other words, two full sets in each case).

Some charming charms (sorry lol), gotta love the ‘stached ninja but it’s a shame to have 6 ninjas in black especially when a few of them have very minor differences in design.

Bacon from the Dunny Eater Series by Kevin Gosselin

Say Hello to Bacon. This little guy tries as hard as he can to be mean. He’s even borrowed a bloody halberd and shield from his father but try as he might, deep down inside he’s just a sweetie. Bacon is part gorilla, part boar and all around nice guy.

Bacon was made from a 7″ Munny, wire, plumber epoxy, screws, polymer clay and leather. This was my first attempt at this size and I loved it. It’s perfect. Large enough to allow for all the detail I want and small enough to be practical.
Another cool piece from Kevin Gosselin, with amazing attention to detail, custom accessories and a great paint job.  Expect to see more of Kevin’s work in the coming weeks, not only because he’s a talented artist, but because he will be writing some tutorials on how to sculpt using polymer clay and possibly a video tutorial :]
