VISEone – The Human Torch MadL

VISEone continues his awesome spree of comic inspired customs with this flaming hot Human Torch MadL.

Again I took the FANTASTIC FOUR as the theme, the focus is THE HUMAN TORCH.
5? MadL, Milliput, Collage Technique, Marvel Comics, Acrylic Paint, Brushwork

Such a simple idea, executed excellently.  The artwork really stands out thanks to the square form of the MadL’s head.

Hopefully we’ll see a Venom themed custom at some point.. I can picture it now, speckled blue/black finish with hints of green Venom drool

Porlzilla & Max: Hit the Road

Nostalgia’d hard after spotting Porlzilla’s Max custom dunny via twitter. It also left me wondering why I’ve never seen a Max Dunny before (at least not that I can recall).

“I thought with this dunny it might be obvious but Max fits perfect onto the shape, and i’ve always had the image from the opening scene of the game in my head when i think of them, so i decided to make it.”

Gotta love the added detail of a custom sculpted miniature mad scientist head/timebomb.  If you have no idea why this custom is amazing then I refer you to the video after the jump

Now if only Porlzilla could find a toy that’d make a great Sam custom ;]  I’m thinking TeddyTroop is already fairly Sam shaped.. if a little squashed.

Limited Edition Kaiju Eyezon

This hefty 28-inch tall fiberglass sculpture is an original character design by Mark Nagata of Max Toy Co and hand-painted by Matt Walker of Dead Presidents Designs using Monster Kolor Paints. There are 10 sculptures, each of which has a unique color design. Check the Eyezon page at the Killer Kaiju website to see all the color schemes and for more information.

This limited edition was created to coincide with the publication of the new book Killer Kaiju Monsters by Ivan Vartanian. Such an awesome design and those colourways are just delicious treats for the eyes :] Gonna have to invest in some Monster Kolor paints and get into the Kaiju collecting/customising methinks

Buff Monster – The Monster Within @ Giant Robot

^ click for list of artists ^

The Monster Within @ Giant Robot, is an art show featuring reinterpretations of work by Buff Monster by his friends. You can view preview images on the Giant Robot Flickr page, which will be updated with new submissions.

Buff Monster is best known for his wheat-pasted, street art featuring lumps of ice cream, clouds, and squirting breasts. He needs just a few tones to seize your eyeballs–black, gray, white, and pinks–and his disarmingly sweet imagery has spilled over into the worlds of fashion, collectibles, and galleries, as well as collaborations for the likes of The Standard, Hurley, Vans, Helio, and Nike.

For this exhibit, the Los Angeles artist is asking 49 of his artist friends, peers, and colleagues to customize three-inch toys based on his work.  A full-color, limited-edition poster will also be made available to commemorate the event and capture the one-of-a-kind pieces.

An opening reception attended by Buff Monster will take place from 6:30 – 10:00 on Saturday, July 10.

COARSE exhibition – Glimpse of Truth

This summer Coarse will reveal a intrinsic truth within the existence of their characters, a deviation from their ever repressing life cycle.

A year in the making, ‘Glimpse of Truth’ presents a wide spectrum of original pieces. The solo exhibition, hosted by Rotofugi from July 16 to August 8, 2010, will include new sculptures, paintings, photography and art objects.

Qee Designer Collection Series 6

The clock ticks closer to the release of the highly anticipated Designer Collection Series 6 assortment of 2.5″ Qees from Toy2R mid July. The series features great talent, both new and old and these two new teasers are fine examples of that.

First is Cameron Tiede’s Nocturnal Decay Boxee Qee. Tiede uses unconventional angles and view points to create unique and curious looking creatures and utilizing the Boxee Qee canvas has been a perfect marriage. Tiede continues to produce a huge range of artwork for Disney, Mattel and Nickelodeon and this marks the first time his work has been captured on Qees.

Next is the Melee Cat Qee from the duo of David and Jodie, better known as Peskimo. This design was an original submission to the World Qee Tour and has been a favorite of Toy2R and we are thrilled to finally have it released. Fun and uplifting designs have kept the UK duo hard at work in the world of animation, advertising and clothing. It’s great to see them back in the toy world with this classic release.

VISEone’s Comic Stripped series

VISEone has been busy creating new additions to his Comic Stripped Series of customs. The concept behind this series of customs is comics x toys. The latest custom in the series is a 3″ Dunny oozing with black ink. More to come in the Comic Stripped Series and considering a recent VISEone facebook update read “I’m searching for: comic adaptions of 20.000 leagues under the sea – Anyone?”, you can probably expect something blue/water/full of awesome Captain Nemo art :]

MezcoToyz – Batman & Joker Mez-Itz

The Batman & Joker 6inch Mez-Itz two pack, which is a summer exclusive that will be revealed at SDCC, is available for pre-order now at MezcoToyz

In July they will also be available, along with the announcement of the next wave of DC characters at San Diego Comic Con.

Tessetoys – Oakorian Battle Corps

The Oakorian Battle Corps are the elite divisions of the Oakorian Assault League, but they never go to battle.

Each mech pilot comes with his own plush battle hq / sleeping quarters where he spends most of his time on the internet talking to other pilots about what milk they prefer in their hot beverage.

“The Oakorian homeworld has been at peace for the last 17 million years, so the Battle Corps don’t have much to do apart from polish their mechs and eat marmite on toast, with either orange juice or tea.”

These figure packs will be available on the Tessetoys website on Monday 21st of June at 6pm (BST) for £26 each.  Limited to one of each design, the Oakor mech measures in at 10.5cm tall and the pilot at 4cm.

All figures are cast in resin.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World – International Trailer

As if the previous trailers and tv spots for Scott Pilgrim vs. the World weren’t enough, they had to go and release this new international trailer.  My geek gene has gone into overdrive as I’m sure yours will too.

The trailer features loads of new footage and more awesome sfx, gaming references and fight scenes. Now to go into hibernation until August 13th :]
