Jinny – Series Zero from Bitbots toys

Bitbots toys are a new UK based vinyl toy company and are just about to launch their first toy series.
We have created a 3″ vinyl character called Jinny. Jinny’s first product is ‘Series Zero’ our first series which has 8 blind box designs. This series has been created by 5 amazing UK artists.
The aim of our company is to allow new talent to enter the vinyl market, creating new toys by artists that don’t usually work within vinyl.  This creates fun and amazing pieces that don’t need to conform to usual vinyl toy design.  We are launching ‘Series Zero’ on the 9th of September in London and online at www.bitbots.co.uk as well as other stores within the UK, Europe and the USA.
Their launch on the 9th is a custom show with 40 amazing artists including: Doktor A, Jon Burgerman, Triclops, Mcfaul studios, Jam Factory, Studio Uamau, Hicalorie, Gary Northfield and many more. Their partner store for the launch is Playlounge London.
Gotta love their aims, it’s always good to give exposure to fresh talent and different artists and art styles breath life into what often feels like a market dominated by the same handful of artists.  Stay tuned for more info soon and future coverage as VA will be there to cover the toy launch and custom show :]

Coarse Solo Exhibition “Glimpse of Truth” Open Until August 8th 2010

We reported last month about the “Coarse Exhibition – Glimpse of Truth” that was being hosted by Rotofugi. Well the event is now well underway and we’ve been sent a load of press release photos from the guys at Coarse! The exhibition looks awesome!

“German artists Mark Landwehr and Sven Waschk have returned to Chicago to present their latest work for coarse, the solo exhibition, “glimpse of truth” at the Rotofugi Gallery.

The exhibition reveals the artists’ latest sculptures, photographs and paintings. For the first time coarse shows the full life cycle of their characters, unveiling a story of false and fragile friendships within a life of meaninglessness.

The pieces on display include 1:1 statues (fiberglass) of noop and paw as embryos, as well as an almost lyrical piece “false friends in pain”, depicting the characters in the last seconds of their friendship. Visitors can also view a multitude of resin sculptures, several large format hand painted canvases, photographic works and a spectrum of original art objects that give new light to the future of coarse.

All pieces shown at the exhibition are hand crafted by the artists in their studios in Hamburg (Germany) and Hong Kong, and are accompanied by original music composed especially for “glimpse of truth”.”

Spotted this recently over on the Kidrobot Forums, what a beauty! It’s one of the latest customs from Lunabee. I’m loving the yellow fur ontop of the purple body, the contrast works really well. You can see that there has been some serious time invested into this piece but I would say it’s certainly been worth it! Excellent work.

“I named him Silvanus, a protector of the forests and wildlife.”

Want one of these? This was a commission for some lucky son of a gun so you will have to get in touch with Lunabee if you would like one of your own!
