Custom Gallery

We bring you news of a new custom gallery to be found out there in cyber space… or more precisely here.

Mr Geo has done us all a great favour in creating this gallery. It gives artists/designers a flickr gallery in which to display their latest creations, and of course for wannabe critics to post their opinions. Please help this thing grow and grow as it’ll be a great database in years to come for collectors to browse through. In fact there is already well over 100 images to browse through, and fingers crossed this thing keeps growing!

Gama-Go Yeti Qee

Perhaps one of the most popular qee customs ever? I think so, as collectors have been begging for this Biskup masterpiece to go to production for months and months… and now at long last Raymond ‘the fairy princess’ Choy has granted their wish!

The 8″ Gama-Go Yeti Qee is in my opinion a real return to form by Toy2r, and proof that the companies are now starting to recognise the quality and popularity of custom work. This is definately a step in the right direction.500 of these will be available and you can preorder one now from Tokyo Toystore at £49.95.

Expected to arrive August/September 06

Pictoplasma

Pictoplasma at Space4 Gallery, Peterborough.”The Space4 Gallery will be transformed by an army of life-sized animated characters in our new exhibition called ‘Characters at War’ by Pictoplasma. The exhibition of cardboard cut-outs runs from Saturday 5 August to Sunday 29 October and gives visitors the opportunity to meet some familiar faces as well some weird and wacky newcomers to the world of character art.”

The characters, animations and a special hand drawn walk through colouring-in book (huge wall of visual goodness for all to colour in) made by our favourite duo Jon Burgerman and Sune Ehlers, will be on display from the 5th August.

Doodling workshops will also take place during September – details soon!

PLAYDONTPLAY

Tesselate made a name for itself in the world of vinyl with its range of ‘tiny hearthead’ figures. Now they bring us this great range of tshirts under the name of ‘playdontplay’. Playdontplay is the clothing area under the ‘tesselate’ design studio.

Printed on high quality gildan t-shirts at £18UK/£21 int’. There is also the great option to customise your shirt in your choice of text and shirt colour. Available in sizes S-XL.Check them out at www.playdontplay.com

Kennmunk’s 20″

Yep that’s right, our second favourite Danish export (Bacon being the other) has created this incredible 20″ dunny custom. By removing a slice from the middle of the dunny head Kenn has altered the ears and nose, making them more prominant like a poor dead animal’s skull and antlors.

Although it seems quite a simple piece, it’s the execution of the work that really makes this so successful.

See this in 20″ Dunnyshow in Copenhagen.

Flockin’ lovely!

I never have been the biggest fan of Touma’s work. Recently however, that has all been changing! It started a while back with his classic Qee sculpt, the knuckle qee and knuckle bear… and now THIS! Limited worldwide to just 300 pieces is the Pink Flocked AniBalloon. Now like much of his work, I wasn’t convinced when I first saw the Aniballoon a couple of months back… but seeing it in a lovely pink flocked birthday suit is just enough to make me go…. Straight to the top of my most wanted list!

Available now at Tokyo Toystore

Teddy Troop by Honk

In recent months, KR forum members have been treated to a mountain of jawdropping custom dunnys by art director, Honk.

This time Honk tackles the canvas of the Teddy Troop. Teddy troops just make me drool, so any TT custom gets in my good books, but this one deserves a good book all to itself! Perfect execution. It’s just jam packed with detail, and the colours are spot on! I love the aged white colour of the octopus style character :thumb:
Look out for Honk’s work on display at El Kartel in the future.More HONK custom work here.
