Hi I am Keith – 3″ custom Dunny by Tesselate

Fresh on the heels of Tesselate‘s Derek and Roger customs is the third custom 3″ Dunny – Keith.

Keith is hand painted with acrylic and Posca Paint markers, and finished with multiple coats of clear lacquer. He will come securely packaged in a sturdy cardboard tube for maximum protection.

The Story of Keith:

Keith is really a big ball of crazy, always hanging out down the beach with his pals, he just can’t stop himself from jumping over sandcastles, eating four ice-creams in one go, or running into the sea until his fur is so sodden wet, he can barely make it back out.

Next time you are down the beach just remember to remind Keith about his sun cream, he needs factor 9000 for his ears. He is one crazy dude!!

You can check out s’more pics of Keith over at his Flickr set.  Keith will be available at the Tesselate shop this coming Monday 14th of February @ 6pm London, UK time.

He will be on the shop for £20, is limited to just 1, and will come with a few vinyl stickers chucked in to complete the package.

Plastic Culture x Thunderpanda – Perry the Sea Wanderer

Last seen at STGCC 2010 and now revealed in these production shots via Plastic Culture. Perry, designed by Thunderpanda stands around 8″ tall on his (finger-like) tentacles, and will join KID as part of the Wanderers series.

Background story of Perry the Sea Wanderer:

Traveling is a part of Perry’s life. From China sea, Medittarean sea, Barring Sea to Arctic Ocean, Pacific Ocean, you name it. He has been there! He has friends from all over the world. His ear suggests that he might be related to a famous cartoon character. Until today, no one knows the real truth. It was rumored that the mother once met Mr. you-know-who in the island of Barbados.

AKUMA NO KATANA Custom Munny

AKUMA NO KATANA is the latest work of Italian artist/toy customizer Quin.Sey.  Done for a custom contest, the character is a traditional japanese demon inspired by Ukiyo-e and drawn with uniposca and pantoni.

The jacket is made of real leather and sword & mask are sculpted from milliput. For more pics of this custom and many other great works, check out Quin.Sey’s Flickr photostream

Derek and Roger by Tesselate

New from Tesselate is this awesome pair of custom Dunnys entitled Derek (and his best friend from the future) Roger. Both are hand painted with acrylic and Posca Paint markers, and finished with clear lacquer. Both will come packaged in a sturdy cardboard tube for maximum protection.  You can check more shots of them over on Flickr.

Here is a little backstory about these two:

Derek and Roger are the best of friends, with one issue. Roger lives exactly two weeks in the future, and they can only communicate with each other via the magic of Marmite!. When they each lavishly spread the brown stuff on a nice crunchy piece of Toast, a gap in space opens and they can see each other through the time portal!

Luckily they are both addicted to the mighty, awesomely gorgeous yeast extract, so pretty much spend most of their free time chatting about the present, past and future, and of course making a few extra credits on the robo horses whenever they can. Those crazy dudes!

Both Derek and Roger will be available individually on Tesselate’s shop this coming Tuesday 8th of February @ 6pm GMT.  Both figures are signed on the rear. They will be on the shop for £15 each, limited to just 1 of each, with a few stickers chucked in to complete the package.

Amanda Visell’s Batz Maru Customs

Amanda Visell made these 10 customs of Batz Maru with Kidrobot. Nine of which have Hello Kitty masks, except for one which thought it was stupid and picked an eyepatch instead.
All of the customs are hand painted and the eyepatch custom will be chosen at random. $350 Each and when they’re off the Switcheroo site they are gone.

Sacred Trip @ Toy Art Gallery

Toy Art Gallery is hosting Carlos Enriquez Gonzalez’s Sacred Trip solo show this Friday at their space in Hollywood.

“The sacred trip, the light and the darkness. Look up the universe’s mysterious unknown. Nothing is like it seems. What is outside is inside, what is inside is outside.”

Sacred Trip” opens January 21st 2011, from 7-11 PM, and runs through February 19th.

The SUCKADELIC Art Toy Universe

Opening Party: Tuesday, January 11, 2011, 6-9pm
Closing Party: January 23, 2011, 3pm

Boo-Hooray Gallery
521 West 23rd Street, NYC 10011

The Boo-Hooray Gallery reluctantly announces the first SUCKADELIC retrospective gallery exhibition. Intentionally confusing, misleading, disappointing and really funny, these limited-edition parodies of action figures reverberate with a vicious wit and are oddly eyeball-pleasing in the manner of all kinds of toothsome 20th/21st century collage and montage art.

One of the most respected despised and influential figures in the art toy movement for the past decade, the SUCKLORD has been producing handmade bootleg action figures in very limited runs, each selling out immediately. As the plot thickens, the work of the SUCKLORD is widely collected in fine art circles, and has been auctioned at Christie’s, Freeman’s and Phillips.

This exhibition marks the first time the entire SUCKADELIC catalogue will be exhibited in one place. For the duration of the exhibit, a SUCKADELIC SUCK-SHOPPE pop-up store will be open. Original artwork, sculptures, silk- screens and paintings will also be for sale.

The work presented in this exhibit is a documentation of my struggle to reach the top of a sinister pyramid scheme; A culture-jacking enterprise where ruthless-yet-compelling super-criminals compete for the imaginations of fickle consumers and a relentless media machine.

The Art of Bukubuku @ Rivet Gallery

The Art of Bukubuku is a solo show featuring the adorably cute artwork of Silvia Portella Torres aka Bukubuku, on display at Rivet Gallery

She was scheduled in our February 2010 show however her package was lost in transit.  I’d like to think it was floating around in the bunny balloon and landed at Rivet four months later!  Silvia is a great artist and I wanted to make sure to give her the exhibit time that she deserved, so her work will be on exhibit for the month of January.

Opening reception will be Saturday, January 1st from 6 to 8pm.  Exhibition will be on display through January 30th.  This show will feature mixed media works as well as original framed prints.

Lindsey Kuhn’s Destroyrrr X is coming to.. DESTROY YOU!

Destroyrrr X is a new series of hand-painted resin robots designed by silkscreen artist Lindsey Kuhn. Standing nearly 9-inches tall and wide Destroyrrr X weighs in at a whopping four pounds of pure resin!
Each figure is hand painted, signed and numbered on the bottom of the foot and carefully packaged into a silk screened box. A three color 12×12 inch signed and numbered print by Kuhn is also included.

The first edition is limited to 50 figures worldwide. An edition of 25 identical Destroyrrr’s and 6-7 small variant editions will be available.

A lot of love and attention has clearly gone into the creation of each Destroyrrr figure. With each one coming with a signed and numbered print, you really do get an amazing package for your dollar. Each colourway stands out as an individual character in it’s own right ( I personally love the skeletor-esque 1.6 variant ).

Hopefully we’ll see some chrome, clear plastic and GID finishes for the next wave of Destroyrrrs or once the current figures get in the hands of Matt Walker, Mark Nagata et. all

Lindsey Kuhn, has been printing since 1984, helping revive the lost art of the Rock Poster in the 90′s. He has continued to create and print his own posters for 19 years keeping his D.I.Y. ethic alive by printing his own work as well as other artists through his print company called SWAMP and Conspiracy skateboards, his independent skateboard company now located in Denver, Colorado.

Lindsey was also recently featured/interviewed in the documentary, American Artifact; which is an awesome insight into the world of American rock poster art of the last half a century.
