Customs

“Skelanimals are looking for a home with that special someone to care for and love them, but not just anyone. They like people that have a warm heart, after all, they’re just bones. They need you to keep them warm and cozy. Snuggling is their favorite thing to do, especially when you watch a scary movie.

Each skelanimal has it’s own favorite scary movie. They try to pretend they’re not afraid, but when you get scared, they do too.”

Each Plush Doll measures approximately 9 inches in height.

Huck’s Neenja have now arrived at Gee Whizz, so those of you that haven’t been down to check the show it.. do so now! I expect these two customs to have quite a few people interested in buying them, so its best if you get down there in person or wait until the online auction.

Boo Pok Custom Munny

I was pretty impressed when I received an email telling me about this custom munny. As you can see from the photograph below its very very nicely crafted piece of work. The head dress is amazing work! This piece is for sale over at Vinyl Fixx and you can view more photos of the munnys development over at Kid Robots Forum

GEE WHIZZ – gee whizz!!!

Stay tuned for more…

GEE WHIZZ – the event

After months of planning (this cropped up with a chat I had with TADO back in October), moments of sheer confused anguish, hours of crazy banter on msn, times of sadness, episodes of delight, it is finally here!!!

Opens to the public Sunday 2nd April 2006.
Private view Saturday 1st April 6PM-10PM by invite only.

This is VA’s first event and it has been a serious endeavour. I think it makes us the first online vinyl magazine/community to do a live event (correct me if I’m wrong). We still have artists joining up to add their support. Thank you all for your patience and equalled enthusiasm. Anyone who can come down to the show say hello, and enjoy the artwork.

Full show report will happen once we’ve all recovered…!!!

Bunny Qee

More trickles of information coming out about this lately…

Image above is of customs not production pieces

The Bunny Qee will be 9″ to start and then become part of the 2″ line. It will also be sold as a DIY in White, Black and GID. Expect pics to of production pieces to come after the show, Dok A’s and Nasty’s designs would be a great way to start the line.

The Bunny Qee is being launched at a show at AMP in Hong Kong on the 10th of April. It’s an easter bunny show with 300 custom bunnys.

In my opinion, this is a return to form and a good addition to the Qee brand.

NVC crew – dunny custom

Dr Bao and Spive have come together to summon forth the warrior Takashi!!! An immaculate custom of a 3″ Dunny. They have also founded the NVC crew, who are taking part in Gee Whizz, and this is their first public introduction piece.

VA has written about Bao’s work before and touched on his history as a graff artist. So how customs? Bao explains, “I was watching the toy industry world and it’s cool what people are doing but it’s always solo work. In graffiti a solo piece of work is cool but a whole wall produced by a crew is much more impressive and complete. So why not take that concept and come out with a crew for customizing toys. We can work all together, working on a concept and then creating it.”

We also mentioned Bao’s teeth pulling skills (he’s a dentist). “I knew that I can paint, but now I want to make use of my sculpting experience, that I learned during my studies to become a dentist when I was sculpting teeth in wax!!! That’s why we sculpt a lot in our customs.”

Sculpt a lot they do indeed, some amazing fine detail in this piece – just an introduction of more to come from a fresh new custom crew.

…and what does NVC stand for? “Natural Vinyl Crackheadz, Neurotic Vinyl Crackheadz…”

Vinyl Abuse Project – On Sale!

Head over to http://www.futureplastik.co.uk and click “Vinyl Abuse Project” on the left and check out what is for offer. Ourselves and Future Plastik set this up a few months back, with some great artists involved, such as Peskimo, Mimic, Mad, Brick Boy,Okkle, Tesselate + many more. They had to customise record vinyl discs, using their own style, some used 3D techniques and some just stuck with 2D painting, all in all, they all look absolutly amazing. Well done.

One of the artists is willing to give the money he gets for his custom, to Huck Gee. We are also trying to raise money for Huck Gee, if you havent noticed yet, click the red star near our logo and check what we have for sale… all for a good cause!

Custom 12″ Vinyl

Wear-it-with-pride, started a new project not long ago… they had to customise 12″ vinyl, similar to the project ourselves and Future Plastik are working on. Some of the artists that worked on the 12″ vinyl for wear-it-with-pride included Jon Burgerman, TADO and the almighty Superdeux. Check out more information at

Teddy Troop by Honk

In recent months, KR forum members have been treated to a mountain of jawdropping custom dunnys by art director, Honk.

This time Honk tackles the canvas of the Teddy Troop. Teddy troops just make me drool, so any TT custom gets in my good books, but this one deserves a good book all to itself! Perfect execution. It’s just jam packed with detail, and the colours are spot on! I love the aged white colour of the octopus style character :thumb:
Look out for Honk’s work on display at El Kartel in the future.More HONK custom work here.
