Coraline site running

Ok so I realize that the Coraline movie is nothing to do with vinyl toys (though I’m sure there will be many toys made from this film) but I figure that everyone visiting this site likes vinyl toys and vinylabuse.com and therefor has good taste. And as such will love Neil Gaiman’s work including his fantastic book “Coraline”. And if we are to follow on from that I assume all of you will be interested in the soon to be released (Feb 2009) stop animation film.

The website coraline.com requires passwords. The only ones I know of (unsure if there are more) are as follows:

stopmotion
buttoneyes
moustachio
puppetlove
armpithair
sweaterxxs

Each will lead to a short video including a various interviews and trailers. Awesome to watch.

Burp Monster by Crazy Label x Peskimo

I love this toy. Andy Woo was kind enough to send one over and although the plan was to photograph it myself once I saw this photo on the Crazy Label site I fell in love with it and decided I had to use it instead.

This is a Peskimo design which will go very well with your Bamboozoo colleciton if you have one. And if not it is a gorgeous piece by itself. The translucent ghost like burp is perfectly opaque and wonderfully balanced.

It is 6″ tall, limited to 800, released late november and the best part of this toy is that it’s a mere $29 making is affordable which, with the economy as it is, is a welcome change from some other toy companies that charge the earth for their collectables.
Each toy also comes with a mini poster featuring Monster Burp and on the reverse side has a short comic strip and a mini game. What more can you want.

Andy has also just popped up some photos of the clay models for the very exiting Treeson mini figure blind boxes.

People who know me know that I have an unhealthy obsession with Bubi’s Treeson toys so I nearly wet myself with exitement when I saw these. We will try our best to keep you informed of the Treeson Blind Box news but in the mean time (well, from late November onwards) feel free to treat yourselves to the Burp Monster. Take my word for it, it’s even better in person.

Carnival Cartoons – Pierce the Human Pincushion and Nathan the Dog-Faced Boy

“Pierce and Dogboy are the Carney family mischief makers!  Pierce is the quintessential bratty younger brother, and Dogboy is Pierce’s pal, a loving pet, and…  a fur covered wingman!  Pierce relishes his gross-out gig as “The Human Pincushion” in the family sideshow act.  (He’s got more holes than a boardwalk put-put course).  When Dogboy isn’t doing double duty as the family’s household hound, and Pierce’s partner in crime, he wows the crowds at Barker’s sideshow with his furry face  and outrageous animal antics!”

These are Jared Deal & Garnet Syberg-Olsen‘s next 2 characters in their on going “Carneys” line.  Both characters sculpted by Eric Nocella Diaz.

The 2 characters (Pierce the Human Pincushion) and (Nathan the Dog-Faced Boy) will be packaged together.
There will be 5 colorways released throughout the year.  The first being the 3D Retro VTN exclusive.  This edition is a mixture of black matte & black gloss with metallic gold logos & details.  Pierce comes complete with 5 actual piercings (2 in each ear & one in left brow).

Edition sizes are as follows:
3D Retro exclusive – 50 PCS.
Plastic and Plush exclusive – 50 PCS.
Monkeyhouse Toys exclusive – 50 PCS
Carnival Cartoons Web Exclusive – 100 PCS
Carnival Cartoons Classic edition – 250 PCS

Pierce stands aprox. 5.5″ tall while Nathan stands at 4″
Set will come complete w/ signed mini print!

REVIEW: DarkHorseComics – Flocked Domo

The Domo Zombie Apocalypse has begun!

Following the success of DarkHorseComics‘ 8″ Domo series, is a second series of Domo flocked vinyl figures this time at 5.5″.

The 5.5″ Domo flocked vinyl figure comes in five colors: Classic Brown (limited edition), Olive Green (shown – limited edition of 800), Ruby Red (limited edition of 800), Earl Grey (limited edition of 800), and Polar White (limited edition of 500).

Domo who?:
Domo (どーもくん Dōmo-kun) is the mascot of Japan’s NHK television station, appearing in several 30 second stop-motion sketches shown as station identification during shows.

Domo is described as “a strange creature that hatched from an egg.” Domo’s favorite food is Japanese-style meat and potato stew, and he has a strong dislike for apples, due to an unexplained mystery in his DNA. Domo can only communicate via producing a low-pitched noise which sounds somewhat like his own name, but other characters appear to understand him. Domo-kun is known to pass gas repeatedly when nervous or upset. Domo also likes music, particularly Guitar Wolf and MAX, two real-life bands.

Mimobot – VDC Series

The newest series of MIMOBOT® designer USB flash drives takes design studio Mimoco in a decidedly new direction.  Known for their artistic MIMOBOT line of character-based flash drives, the studio has put their flagship brand squarely into the hands of their fans, thanks to the Vimobot Design Contest, a unique competition which tapped the creative power of the MIMOBOT community. The six winning designs are now available in the form of the VDC MIMOBOT Series of USB flash drives in 1GB ($24.95) to 8GB ($79.95) capacities.

Late last year, Mimoco began the Vimobot Design Contest, a Do-It-Yourself vinyl art toy challenge which sought the best and most innovative character designs.  The entries were hand-created by the entrants, using Mimoco’s oversized blank Vimobot vinyl toy as a canvas.  After the hundreds of entries from unknown, emerging, and amateur artists in the MIMOBOT community were narrowed to twenty finalists, MIMOBOT forum denizens chose their six favorite designs to become MIMOBOT flash drives. The winning VDC creations represent a wide variety of artistic styles, from traditional character design to the semi-abstract.

Claudio Sanchez/VinylCut Toys – Kill Audio

Claudio Sanchez, singer/guitarist for the mega rock group Coheed and Cambria has long been a comic book author, now he can add “Toy Creator” to his resume.

Kill Audio, a 7 1/2” self-caricature vinyl toy, is the newest arrival from Sanchez’s Evil Ink Comics/VinylCut Toys.

The toy began as an online comic strip earlier this year that follows the antics of lead character, Kill Audio, a humorous, immortal little troll who seeks his purpose in life. Supported by his wildly eccentric posse, (including his nemesis/friend ‘Fix-ler,’  who constantly challenges Kill Audio’s immortality with futile murder attempts,) Kill Audio traipses across a hip, musical landscape full of hilarious events, resulting in what sometimes feels like Ralph Bakshi’s adaptation of the Wizard of Oz meets Fat Albert.

Yeti Guy/Girl

Finally the day I and hopefully many others have been waiting for has arrived. When PatchTogether first appeared many people were sceptical whether or not they would ever release a toy. Once prototype photos were shown people were still asking if they would be around long enough to have a full release.

Two toys are now available for purchase though PatchTogether (Slimeball and Yeti Guy/Girl) but today we will be reviewing the Yeti Girl by Nevermore due to the fact the guys at PT were kind enough to send us one to play with.

At first I was unsure about what to expect from the quality but the color is smooth and rich, the sculpt is spotless and other than a little stiffness in the arm movement it is a well made piece. And let’s face it why would you want it in any position other than this anyway.

I was also quite impressed with the packaging. Each toy comes with a little thank you card which is always a nice touch.

As a whole I have been pleasantly surprised by the quality of this toy. It’s a strong toy from this, as of yet, fledgling company. It will be interesting to see how the PatchTogether experiment progresses with age.

P.s. If you preorder the full set of three before the end of the month you will receive a free Yeti Tee or Tank.

How to receive your free Yeti Tee/Tanks
Preorder Yeti Guy Set from now before arrival, and forward your order confirmation email to support@patchtogether.com with your size preferences. Please label the email subject; I want my Yeti Tee/Tanks!
