Qee x Fifth Sun: Apparel Launch
Here (there?) is a teaser for the upcoming Qee Apparel launch for 2010! Not much is teased though other than it’s in collab with Fifth Sun, Qee clothing, clothing with Qee on (or included?). Hopefully it’ll be some interesting artists collaborations and crossovers from toys to apparel and not just Qee silhouettes slapped on clothes :]
‘Everybody, all the time’ – Scott C. @ London Miles
On Thursday 4th March 2010, London Miles welcomes you to join us in east London for the opening reception of ‘Everybody, all the time’ and an evening with the artist Scott Campbell
Showcasing more than 100 new original watercolour paintings, ‘Everybody, all the time’ delves deeper than ever before into the American’s mischievous and curious imagination to reveal the artist at his idiosyncratic and playful best.
Through a multitude of storyboards and illustrated narratives, Campbell renders his escapist daydreams in the form of often-humorous and light-hearted scenarios featuring intriguing and otherworldly creatures.
Scumlife – Non-racist Black Skinhead Panthro
Before you start asking yourself, “Yo, is Tone on some racist shit!?”, check this out, it’ll save both of us a lot of breath.
I always knew Panthro was a black man, but recently I was watching the Thundercats as a grown up and it hit me that he was a Skinhead. He has the shaved head. He has the suspenders. He is a black Skinhead.
I decided a ‘Skinhead Panthro’ needed to exist, and I wanted one for myself, so I made 24 of them out of resin and re-purposed vacuum plastic.
Get your own ‘Non-Racist, Black Skinhead Panthro’ at www.scumlife.com or go directly to the Scumlife store.
Get em’ while they last.
More custom toy goodness, what more needs to be said? An weirdly funny idea, brilliantly executed. On an unrelated note, damn Panthro is muscly, even his muscles have muscles.
Tessetoys – Oakor Blikz – Released Fri 26th
I knew something was missing when I cast the original batch of Oakor, and now it seems I was correct. From a friends tip off who spotted this wild Oakor in the woods earlier today, I managed to talk him and his owner(?) to come back to Tesselate HQ.
His ‘owner’ Terry Two seems a bit of a businessman to be honest, he has me signing a contract so him and the wild Oakor who is called Blikz can leave town, but I have to arrange their travel etc, what a cheeky little prink.
It seems Blikz had been living wild for the past three months, eating ladybirds and slugs down the seafront. He bumped into Terry three one day, who then struck a deal to go 50/50 on the butterflies, but not on the snails, Terry frinkin hates snails.
Both figures are hand cast in resin and hand painted with acrylic paints (and a bit of spraypaint), in the deepest bowels of the Tessetoys manufacturing plant.
Terry Two even has his own sleeping pod, which Blikz is not allowed to go anywhere near. Blikz stands at 4 inches / 10cm high and Terry Two at a gargantuan 1.4inches / 3.2cm high.
Also included in the package are some Tessetoys stickers
Another wicked figure from Tessetoys, the form is reminiscent of Tresson, a simple shape with great designs and packaging. Looking forward to future Oakor designs, it’d be cool to see some artist customs :]

THUG DIY & Defcon series – Unison Lab
THUG (Toy Home Unit Guardian), are a new DIY and designer toy from Unison Lab. THUGs are 5″ figures with poseable head and arms which will first be released as a DIY platform and then followed by the Defcon series which will feature three designs, (Black) Hazmat, (Red) Fire Rescue, and (Yellow) Medical.
Interesting new shape for a DIY figure (although not overly keen on the dunny-ish body), the little weapons are a nice addition too. Gotta say they really remind me of early UNKL toys, Particularly HazMaPo, but it’s not a bad thing cos those toys were kick-ass and it’ll be interesting to see if Unison Lab build upon the THUG line of toys in the same way :]
Tosa Novmichi / Maywa Denki @ Giant Robot
Giant Robot is pleased to host a rare U.S. appearance by Tosa Novmichi at GR2. Tosa is half of the legendary Japan-based Maywa Denki music and art duo that creates its own ingenious and otherworldly instruments. In addition to touring and playing sold-out rock concerts around the world with their pneumatic, electronic, automated, and conceptual music devices, they create some of the world’s most interesting and interactive toys.
Following the footsteps of the popular Knockman family (centered on the eponymous, wind-up figure that knocks its own head like a drum) comes the Otamatone. The piece looks like a musical note and plays like a Theremin. Fans of electronic music, cool toys, and otaku culture from Japan will not want to miss Tosa’s personal demonstration of the toy.
Get down to this! Really wish we could get to LA for this, having purchased a few of the Knockman family way back, can honestly say it should prove to be a wicked mix of music and toy fun :]
Tessetoys – Maximum Joy and Terry One
Maximum Joy and Terry One are best friends (well sort of). Terry doesn’t really like Maximum Joy, and is only after his food, money and
beverages, whilst Maximum Joy likes to watch Terry One walk around as he reminds him of a long moving raisin.
Both figures are hand cast in resin and hand painted with acrylic paints (and a bit of spraypaint), in the deepest bowels of the Tessetoys manufacturing plant.
Maximum Joy stands at 4 inches / 10cm high and Terry One at a gargantuan 1.4inches / 3.2cm high. Also included in the package are some Tessetoys stickers
The ‘Super Special Combo Pack’ will be available on the Tesseshop for £26 at 4pm BST on the 15th Feb 2010.
