Shawnimals – SDCC 2010 Exclusive Releases

Shawnimals have sent us the lowdown on the sweet exclusives that will be appearing at the San Diego Comic Con 2010 and there will be 3 in total!

The 1st is the Yeti Ninja variant – Beach Edition (Top)

“The popular yet misunderstood Yeti Ninja is back in a San Diego appropriate variant – the Beach Bum. This Yeti has found refuge on the beaches of a vast high-altitude lake near the top of Mount Feroshi. Sadly, his snow friend Rawr melted in the hot sun, but this Yeti Ninja used his smarts to create an all-new friend out of sand. Sand Rawr comes with the Beach Bum edition of the Yeti Ninja.”

This guy measures 7″ x 7″ plush complete with accessory and will be a limited run of 50 pieces, all will be signed and numbered.

Price: $45 USD available exclusively from Kidrobot.

The 2nd is the Yeti Ninja variant – Midnight Edition

“Cue death metal soundtrack… the Midnight edition of the Yeti Ninja has entered the room! This Yeti doesn’t enjoy the sandy beaches or the snowy slopes – instead he finds a nice dark coal-filled cave far away from his Yeti brethren. Thing is, we’re not sure if Cave Rawr is, in fact, coal or simply blackened snow. Thoughts?”

This guy also measures 7″ x 7″ plush complete with accessory and will be a limited run of 50 pieces, all will be signed and numbered.

Price: $45 USD available exclusively from Rotofugi.

The 3rd and final release is the Trees of Doom! Battle Pack

“You’ve played the hit iPhone game and have cursed the Flying Devils. Perhaps you’re now playing as the Anti-Ninja. Whatever the case, this Battle Pack gives you both a pocket-sized version of the Flying Devil and an Anti-Ninja plush.”

Both pieces are hand made each measuring 4″ x 4″, limited to 100 pieces these will come with a signed and numbered tag.

Price: $35 USD per pack available exclusively from DKE Toys.

What a stunning bunch of exclusives! I’d be waiting at the Rotofugi booth for the super cool Midnight Yeti Ninja!

JamFactory Droplet – Custom Teddy Bear

How cute is this!? Spotted on a tweet from the creator of the Droplet series, Gavin Strange, this awesome custom JamFactory Droplet is the handy work of Jennifer Specht aka @thejenbot!

“A labor of love with over 500 individual details, but we love how it turned out and can’t wait to continue creating custom toys!”

The piece has been produced using and sculpting polymer clay around the original droplet toy, the end result is stunning and very impressive.

Toy2R – Designer Qee Collection, Series 6

Well here they are in all their vinyl glory, the 2.5″ Qee Designer Collection, Series 6 from Toy2R! The news gets even better if you’re planning on going to the Taipei Toy Festival or San Diego Comic Con this year!

“Collectors attending the Taipei Toy Festival this Thursday will be in for a treat as Toy2R debuts the series at booth A54! News also has it that the series will be available at vendors during San Diego Comic Con, starting July 21st!”

Check out the all star list of designers that have slammed their work onto the Qees! Gotta say my favourite is the design from DrilOne, liking the look of Peskimo’s too!

“With original designs from artists across the globe, this series marks the re-launch of the art series that started it all. Look for designs from some of the best DIY customizers to top designers of original art toys in this collection; Frank Kozik’s Toyer Z captured in Qee Bear form (is his nemesis, Toyer Enemy lurking about?), Cameron Tiede’s Noctural Decay Boxee Qee, Saucernauts creator Charlie Mewshaw’s Pinkeye Boxee, Lisa Petrucci’s adorable Polka Dot Bunee Qee, classic Qee artist Doink and his Mon Qee(s?), DIY custom kings Jon-Paul Kaiser and DrilOne first production Qees (the Great Khan and Toyer Scout, respectively), original world tour submissions from Peskimo’s Melee Cat and Daniel Jarrett‘s Ventriliquist Dummy, character creator extrodinaire DGPH and his Submariner Bear, plus Qee creator Raymond Choy’s iconic Toyer designed Doggy Qeeare all here, randomly packed.”
There’s also going to be some variant and chase designs thrown into the mix! Each piece will include a keychain attachment.

Possibly the best series of Qee’s yet? What do you guys think?

Lunartik – Limited Edition Big Blender Lino Print

“The blend man is part of a series of art taken from my sketch books drawn up whilst in Japan (April 2010).”

Lunabee – Custom Tribal Mini Munny

Known for her awesome custom vinyl toy designs, UK illustrator Sarah Miskelly aka Lunabee, has just released an image of her latest custom Mini Munny! The detail and colour on this piece is stunning especially considering the actual size of a Mini Munny! Congrats to the lucky owner!

Price: Unfortunatley this guy was a commission piece so it’s not for sale, more of her available pieces can be found on Lunabee’s online store though or get in touch for your own commissioned piece!

The Renmen Project – Limited Edition Peskimo Screenprint

Until last Wednesday I wasn’t even aware this print was being produced, it was only when I saw @Jumbola tweeting

“Really looking forward to the @peskimo prints going on sale at the @renmenproject shop this Friday http://bit.ly/dkZkLx

I clicked on the link and thought “Wow Peskimo?! I need to get one of those! What’s the Renmen Project though?” Then I found out ..

“‘Renmen’ (pronounced ‘rainmain’) is the Haitian word for Love, the bird in the logo is the Hispaniolan Trogon, the national bird of Haiti. ‘The Renmen Project‘ has been brought together by the team atThunder Chunky and Ben The Illustrator in order to raise funds for UNICEF’s Haiti Earthquake Children’s Appeal.”

Featuring two Peskimo style Hispaniolan Trogon birds sitting in the trees, the print is full of vibrant and vivid colours, it reminds me of their Bamboozoo vinyl toy set! The prints are A3 sized, signed and numbered by the artist and they even printed them in their own studio! It was a limited run of only 16 and there was a lot of interest in the build up to it’s release, so getting one of these was going to be tough, then the time of release was tweeted,

@RenmenProject: “It’s all going crazy at 12 o’clock today! Be ready!”

I waited. Constantly refreshing the page until suddenly the “Add to Cart” button appeared! I was clicking as fast as I could to get to the PayPal checkout so I could claim mine but thought I was too late, but NO my order was processed! YES! They were sold out in 7 minutes and all the proceeds went to a very good cause UNICEF’s Haiti Earthquake Children’s Appeal.

Now I’m just waiting by the front door for the postman to arrive! :D

Find out more about the Renmen Project on their website www.therenmenproject.co.uk and find out how you can help.

Sket One – 8″ Sketchup Dunny

Each custom Dunny is signed and numbered by the artist and arrives with 1 miniature glass bottle of ketchup with custom label, 1 personal condiment caddy (for the Dunny and bottle to sit in) and 1 header card which will also be signed and numbered.

“Each toy is produced by Sket One and is hand crafted from start to finish. These are not production toys and might have variations and characteristics that come with a custom art piece. Each one is worked on individually and numbered to ensure your piece is truly a one of a kind.”

Price: $550 USD and available from Sket One’s online store.

WuzOne – Orangino Dunny

WuzOne fails to disappoint with the announcement of his latest release, a custom 3″ Dunny named “Orangino” which will be dropping on Monday! Painted in very calming, organic colours this guy still looks like he’s going to bite your fingers off!

100% hand-painted using acrylics, markers and spray paint.

Limited to ONE piece this will be available from Wuzone’s website www.thewuz.com

Joe Ledbetter x The Loyal Subjects – Pico and Wilshire

This is the latest character duo of mammoth proportions coming straight from the mind of JLed! Mammoth proportions indeed with Pico the Sabertooth measuring nearly 6″ and Wilshire the Mammoth standing 12″ tall, this is going to be a major piece in your collection! Featuring the signature Joe Ledbetter style we have come to love, the colours and features of this piece really “pop”. Check out those tusks!!

Trying to prove himself to the pride, an ambitious Sabertooth Cat (Pico) takes on more than he can chew with a peaceful Wooly Mammoth named Wilshire. 20,000 years ago they roamed what are now the streets of Los Angeles in large numbers.

There I was thinking that they were friends and Wilshire was giving Pico a lift somewhere :(

Produced by The Loyal Subjects this set is planned to drop mid Autumn and you will be able to pre-order it from July 7th 2010, be quick though this set is limited to 415 pieces. The price is expected to be between $155 – $165 USD.

Will Pico feed his family? Will Wilshire escape to live another day? Or will they both meet their demise in the clutches of the La Brea tar pits?

VISEone – The Human Torch MadL

VISEone continues his awesome spree of comic inspired customs with this flaming hot Human Torch MadL.

Again I took the FANTASTIC FOUR as the theme, the focus is THE HUMAN TORCH.
5? MadL, Milliput, Collage Technique, Marvel Comics, Acrylic Paint, Brushwork

Such a simple idea, executed excellently.  The artwork really stands out thanks to the square form of the MadL’s head.

Hopefully we’ll see a Venom themed custom at some point.. I can picture it now, speckled blue/black finish with hints of green Venom drool

Limited Edition Kaiju Eyezon

This hefty 28-inch tall fiberglass sculpture is an original character design by Mark Nagata of Max Toy Co and hand-painted by Matt Walker of Dead Presidents Designs using Monster Kolor Paints. There are 10 sculptures, each of which has a unique color design. Check the Eyezon page at the Killer Kaiju website to see all the color schemes and for more information.

This limited edition was created to coincide with the publication of the new book Killer Kaiju Monsters by Ivan Vartanian. Such an awesome design and those colourways are just delicious treats for the eyes :] Gonna have to invest in some Monster Kolor paints and get into the Kaiju collecting/customising methinks
